This piece centers around the enigmatic presence of women with intensely expressive eyes. A layered effect, achieved through the blending of acrylic elements and vintage text/imagery, creates a sense of mystery. The surface has a cloudy, almost ethereal quality, enhancing the hidden depths and the captivating gaze that seems to follow the viewer.
Seemingly random objects are layered and combined including tulips, street signs, Chinese text, butterfly wings, even a pair of shoes and a fire hydrant. The overall sense of mystery is unmistakable when discovering various women among the layers, looking intently at the viewer or at one another. This leads the viewer to search for possible hidden meanings. This is the type of work where a new detail is observed each time it is viewed.
This piece was awarded second place in the recent juried exhibition, “Artists Helping Artists: One by One” to help raise funds for summer camp at Art Center Sarasota.
The extra deep edges of this cradled wood panel are painted black, giving the piece an almost sculptural quality when hung on a wall or placed on a tabletop. Protective varnish is used to seal the piece, it is wired and ready to hang.

This piece won second place in the recent exhibition “Artists Helping Artists One by One” in which local Florida artists were invited to present pieces measuring 12’ X 12” (one by one foot) in any style or genre. Proceeds were donated to Art Center Sarasota toward art camp scholarships for students in need.
