Featuring hand-cut and torn vintage ephemera - from fashion magazine clippings and travel advertisements, to references of the classic game show “What’s My Line?” - this work is a layered exploration of the mid-century.
A complex layering technique involving acrylic paint, texture paste, and gesso creates a tactile surface that invites the viewer to look closer. Each corner reveals a new narrative: a glimpse of a classic car, the silhouette of Marilyn Monroe, and the sophisticated textures of vintage lace. This piece acts as a time capsule, blurring the lines between reality and the curated glamour of the past.
The 1.5" gallery depth edges are painted in black acrylic, eliminating the need for a frame. A protective varnish covers the piece, which is wired and ready to hang.
